When the Quran tells the story of Jesus, it describes how Mary, the mother of Jesus, approached an angel from God who brought her good news that she could never have imagined: that she would give birth to a son, a Messiah, one of the righteous, who would be a prophet of God and would call the children of Israel on the straight path of God. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAt that time the angels said:“ O Mary behold, God announces a word from him; his name is the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, viewed in this world and in the hereafter, and one of those who are close to (God). And he will speak in the cradle to people and also as an adult, and he will be one of the righteous. \u201d <\/span>(Quran 3: 45-46)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, this news seemed unusual and impossible to Maria. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

„She said:“ Sir, shall I be born a son when no man touched me? “ <\/span>He said: „God also creates what He wants; if He has decided something, He only says to him:“ Be! „And it is.“ <\/span>And He will teach him the book and the wisdom and the Torah and the gospel \u201d(Quran 3: 47-48) <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The nature of Jesus was so special that God compares the uniqueness of his creation with that of the first man and prophet – Adam . <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cVerily, Jesus is like Adam before God; <\/span>He created it out of earth as if He said to it: „Be!“ <\/span>and there he was. \u201d(Quran 3:59) <\/span><\/span>
\nJesus and his miracles<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus became one of the greatest prophets of God and was sent to the children of Israel to confirm the teachings of his predecessor, that of the prophet Moses. <\/span>His birth was a miracle and like all of God’s prophets, he was granted various miracles. <\/span>He approached his people and said:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSee, I came to you with a sign from your Lord. <\/span>See, I will create the shape of a bird for you out of clay and I will breathe into it, and with God’s permission it shall become a bird; <\/span>and I heal the blind born and the leper and bring the dead to life with God’s permission, and I tell you what you eat and what you store in your houses. <\/span>Truly this is a sign for you if you are a believer. <\/span>And as a confirmation of the Torah that was there before me and to allow you part of what was forbidden to you, I came to you with a sign from your Lord. <\/span>So fear God and obey me, verily, God is my Lord and your Lord, therefore serve Him. <\/span>This is a straight path. \u201d <\/span>(Quran 3: 49-51) <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nJesus‘ followers<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

The Quran continues with the story of Jesus by telling various events about his life and about his disciples. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd when Jesus perceived their unbelief, he said,“ Who is my helper (on the way) to God? “ <\/span>The disciples said: „We are God’s helpers; we believe in God, and (you should) testify that we are (Him) devoted. Our Lord, we believe in what you have sent down and follow the Messenger. Therefore lead us among the witnessers. \u201d(Quran 3: 52-53) <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In another incident, after which an entire Surah (chapter) of the Quran was named, the disciples asked Jesus for another miracle.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

„When the disciples said,“ O Jesus son of Mary, is your Lord able to send us a table (with dishes) from heaven? “ <\/span>he said, „Fear God if you are believers.“ <\/span>They said, „We want to eat of it, and our hearts should be calm, and we want to know that you really spoke to us, and we want to testify for it ourselves.“ <\/span>Then said Jesus, the son of Mary: „O God, our Lord, send us a table (with food) down from heaven, that it be a feast for us, for the first of us and for the last of us, and one Mark from you, and take care of us, for you are the best provider. ‚\u201d(Quran 5: 112-114) <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

God sent them the tablet they asked for, but not without a warning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

„God said:“ Behold, I will send him down (the table) to you; but whoever disbelieves afterwards, I will impose a punishment with which I will not punish anyone else in the world. “ <\/span>(Quran 5: 115) <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe end of the story? <\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

The story of Jesus does not really <\/span>end in the <\/span>Quran <\/span>because we are told that Jesus was not killed, but that God raised His beloved prophet to Himself.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAt that time God said:\u201c Oh Jesus, behold, I want you to be divorced and I want to raise you up to Me and I want to free you from the unbelievers and I want to put your followers over the unbelievers until the day of resurrection. Then you will return to Me, and I will judge between you what you disagreed about. But as far as the unbelievers are concerned, I will severely punish them in this world and in the beyond; and they will find no helpers. “ <\/span>But as for those who believe and do good works, He will give them their full reward. <\/span>And God does not love the unjust. \u201d(Quran 3: 55-57)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Quran also emphasizes that Jesus was neither killed nor crucified. <\/span>Speaking of the children of Israel, God blames their false accusations against Mary as well as their claim that they killed Jesus. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of their unbelief and their allegation, which they made with an enormous lie against Maria, and because of their speech:“ We killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of God, „while they neither killed nor killed him crucified, but this was only faked to them; <\/span>and those who disagree on this matter are truly in doubt about it; <\/span>they have no knowledge of it, but only follow a guess; <\/span>and they certainly didn’t kill him. <\/span>Rather, God has lifted him up to himself, and God is Almighty, All-Wise. \u201d <\/span>(Quran 4:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Quran affirmed that Jesus was lifted up to God and the Prophet Muhammad, God’s blessings and peace be upon him, assured us that Jesus would be sent down to earth again before the day of judgment. <\/span>In a statement by the Prophet Muhammad that Abu Hurairah told us, the Prophet said: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWith the one in whose hand is my soul, the son of Mary will come down among you as a judge and he will break the cross and kill the pig and cancel the jizya (tribute) and the wealth will be so great that nobody will accept it until a single prostration will be better than the world and everything in it. \u201d <\/span>(Sahih Al-Bukhari)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
