{"id":8415,"date":"2020-06-20T01:33:03","date_gmt":"2020-06-20T06:33:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ask-a-muslim.com\/?p=8415"},"modified":"2020-07-20T11:29:42","modified_gmt":"2020-07-20T16:29:42","slug":"gleichberechtigung-von-frauen-in-der-westlichen-tradition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ask-a-muslim.com\/de\/gleichberechtigung-von-frauen-in-der-westlichen-tradition\/","title":{"rendered":"Gleichberechtigung von Frauen in der westlichen Tradition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Western attitudes towards women<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The Western attitude towards the female gender is a reaction to a long history of oppression that was mainly rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Perhaps one can say more precisely that the modern attitudes sprang from the post-Reformation philosophies &#8211; ideas that appeared during the \u00b4time of enlightenment\u00b4. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The Islamic worldview forms a contradiction to this because it is based on the teachings found in the revelation of God to the Prophet Muhammad. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">According to Muslims, the viewpoint that Islam represents can be used by mankind at any time; <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">their meaning and usefulness is not limited to a particular historical era, geographic location, or civilization. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The issue of &#8218;women&#8216; is only one of the controversies between these two worldviews, between that of the secular liberal humanists and that of Islam. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">After all, what is the situation and position of women? <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Can we say that women have a higher position in one culture and are oppressed in another?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The West prides itself on defending women&#8217;s rights, viewing itself as a protector of women around the world. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Western thinkers believe that women in the West are getting more and more rights while Muslim women are still oppressed by a medieval religion! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Muslims, on the other hand, believe that Islamic ethics actually offer true freedom for both men and women, and that the West promises freedom that does not actually exist, but is simply a modern form of slavery wrapped in plastic words.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Let&#8217;s look in history at how women were viewed in the pyramid of Western traditions. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The West sees itself as an intellectual heir to the Greco-Roman tradition and many Western ideas can be traced back to the writings of early Greek philosophers such as Aristotle and Plato. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">If we read her works, we will find that her image of women was not exactly beneficial. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Plato showed contempt for certain men by comparing them to women. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Bertrand Russell once wrote: \u201cAristotle believed that women have fewer teeth than men; <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">although he was married twice, it never occurred to him to verify this claim by looking into his wife&#8217;s \u00b4mouth\u00b4.<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The Church adopted much of the Greco-Roman philosophies about women. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Women were condemned to endure the pain of childbirth for their sin, causing Adam to eat the forbidden fruit (Genesis 2: 4-3: 24). <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Women are seen as the source of sin and evil in man, burdened with the inherited guilt and guilt of the biblical Eve. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The Bible says: <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">\u201cAnd I found a woman more bitter than death, who is a safety net and knit her heart and shackles her hands. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Whoever pleases God will escape it; <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">but the sinner is caught by them &#8230; and I kept looking and I didn&#8217;t find it: out of a thousand I found a man, but I didn&#8217;t find a (sincere) woman among all. \u201d <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">(The preacher Solomon 7: 26-28)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">&#8222;No wickedness comes close to the wickedness of women &#8230; Sin started with women and thanks to her we all have to die.&#8220; <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">(Ekklesiastikus 25:19, 24) <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Jewish rabbis have listed nine curses that women have been <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">charged <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">because of the fall: <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">\u201cHe has given the woman nine curses and death: the burden of mentorship blood and virginity blood, the burden of pregnancy and the burden of childbirth, the burden of raising children, her head is covered like that of a mourner, she pierces her ear like a permanent slave or a slave who serves her master, no faith is given to her as a witness, and after all &#8211; Death. \u201d[4]<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">To this day, Orthodox Jewish men recite in their daily morning prayers: &#8222;Blessed be God, ruler of the universe, for not making me a woman.&#8220;
