The Biblical prophecies on the advent of \u00a0Muhammad (peace be upon him)\u00a0are evidence of the truth of Islam for those who believe in the Bible.<\/p>\n
In\u00a0Deuteronomy 18,Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) stated that God, The Exalted, told him:<\/p>\n
\u201cI will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.\u00a0 If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.\u201d (Deuteronomy 18:18-19).[<\/sup>1]<\/sup><\/p>\n From these verses we conclude that the prophet in this prophecy must have the following three characteristics:<\/p>\n 1)\u00a0 That he will be like Prophet Moses.<\/p>\n 2)\u00a0 That he will come from the brothers of the Israelites, i.e. the Ishmaelite.<\/p>\n 3)\u00a0 That God will put His words in to the mouth of this prophet and that he will declare what God commands him.<\/p>\n Let us examine these three characteristics in more depth:<\/p>\n There were hardly any two Prophets who were so much alike as Moses and Muhammad,\u00a0peace be upon him.\u00a0Both were given a comprehensive law and code of life. Both encountered their enemies and were victorious in miraculous ways.\u00a0 Both were accepted as Prophets and statesmen.\u00a0Both migrated following conspiracies to assassinate them.<\/p>\n Analogies between Moses and Jesus overlook not only the above similarities but other crucial ones as well.\u00a0These include the natural birth, the family life, and death of Moses and Muhammad,\u00a0peace be upon him,\u00a0but not of Jesus.\u00a0Moreover,Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) was regarded by his followers as the Son of God and not exclusively as a prophet of God, as Prophet Moses and Muhammad (peace be upon them)\u00a0were and as Muslims believe Jesus was.\u00a0So, this prophecy refers to the Prophet Muhammad and not to Jesus, because Muhammad\u00a0is more like Moses than Jesus.<\/p>\n Also, one notices from the Gospel of John that the Jews were waiting for the fulfillment of three distinct prophecies.\u00a0The first was the coming of Christ.\u00a0The second was the coming of Elijah.\u00a0The third was the coming of the Prophet.\u00a0This is obvious from the three questions that were posed to John the Baptist:<\/p>\n \u201cNow this was John\u2019s testimony, when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was.\u00a0He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, \u201cI am not the Christ.\u201d\u00a0They asked him, \u201cThen who are you?\u00a0Are you Elijah?\u201d\u00a0He said, \u201cI am not.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cAre you the Prophet?\u201d\u00a0He answered, \u201cNo.\u201d (John 1:19-21)<\/p>\n If we look in a Bible with cross-references, we will find in the marginal notes where the words\u00a0\u201cthe Prophet\u201d\u00a0occur in\u00a0John 1:21, that these words refer to the prophecy of\u00a0Deuteronomy 18:15and\u00a018:18.[<\/sup>2]<\/sup>\u00a0We conclude from this that Jesus Christ is not the Prophet mentioned in\u00a0Deuteronomy 18:18.<\/p>\n Abraham (peace be upon him)had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac\u00a0(Genesis 21).\u00a0 Ishmael became the grandfather of the Arab nation, and Isaac became the grandfather of the Jewish nation.\u00a0The Prophet spoken of was not to come from among the Jews themselves, but from among their brothers, i.e. the Ishmaelites.\u00a0Muhammad(peace be upon him) a descendant of Ishmael, is indeed this Prophet.<\/p>\n Also,\u00a0Isaiah 42:1-13\u00a0speaks of the servant of God, His \u201cchosen one\u201d and \u201cMessenger\u201d who will bring down a law.\u00a0\u201cHe will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth.\u00a0In his law the islands will put their hope.\u201d (Isaiah 42:4).\u00a0Verse 11, connects that awaited one with the descendants of Kedar.\u00a0Who is Kedar?\u00a0According to\u00a0Genesis 25:13, Kedar was the second son of Ishmael, the ancestor of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.<\/p>\n The words of God (the Glorious Qur\u2019an) were truly put into Muhammad\u2019s(peace be upon him) mouth.\u00a0God sent the Angel Gabriel to teach Muhammad(peace be upon him)\u00a0the exact words of God (the Glorious Qur\u2019an) and asked him to dictate them to the people as he heard them.\u00a0The words are therefore not his own.\u00a0They did not come from his own thoughts, but were put into his mouth by the Angel Gabriel.\u00a0During the life time of Muhammad (peace be upon him) and under his supervision, these words were then memorized and written by his companions.<\/p>\n Also, this prophecy in\u00a0Deuteronomy\u00a0mentioned that this prophet will speak the words of God in the name of God.\u00a0If we looked to the Glorious Qur\u2019an, we will find that all its chapters, except Chapter 9, are preceded or begin with the phrase, \u201cIn the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.\u201d Note that God has said in the prophecy of\u00a0Deuteronomy 18,\u00a0\u201cIf anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.\u201d (Deuteronomy, 18:19)\u00a0This means that whoever believes in the Bible must believe in what this Prophet says, and this Prophet is the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.<\/p>\n Footnotes:<\/p>\n (1)\u00a0All of the verses on this article have been taken from\u00a0The NIV Study Bible, New International Version, except where noted as being KJV which means\u00a0King James Version.<\/p>\n (2)\u00a0See the marginal notes in\u00a0The NIV Study Bible, New International Version\u00a0on verse 1:21, p. 1594.<\/p>\n From: Islamforchristians<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"1)\u00a0 A prophet like Moses:<\/b><\/h1>\n

\nAnother indication (other than the prophecy in Deuteronomy) is that\u00a0Isaiah\u00a0ties the messenger connected with Kedar with a new song (a scripture in a new language) to be sung to the Lord\u00a0(Isaiah 42:10-11).\u00a0This is mentioned more clearly in the prophecy of\u00a0Isaiah:\u00a0\u201cand another tongue, will he speak to this people\u201d (Isaiah 28:11 KJV).\u00a0Another related point, is that the Quran was revealed in sections over a span of twenty-three years.\u00a0It is interesting to compare this with\u00a0Isaiah 28\u00a0which speaks of the same thing,\u00a0\u201cFor it is: Do and do, do and do, rule on rule, rule on rule; a little here, a little there.\u201d (Isaiah 28:10).<\/p>\n
