Men and women are completely equal in Islam; no one has superiority over the other except through righteousness. Allah Says in The Noble Quran (interpretation of meaning), “O humanity! Be mindful of your Lord Who created you from a single soul, and from it He created its mate, and through both He spread countless men and women. And be mindful of Allah\u2014in Whose Name you appeal to one another\u2014and \u02f9honor\u02fa family ties. Surely Allah is ever Watchful over you” (Quran 4:1). However, just because the genders are equal in Islam does not mean that males and females have the exact same roles. Rather, it is the opposite. A man has different roles than a woman and a woman has different roles than a man, and when both cooperate together, this is how families and societies as a whole will succeed. For example, Allah Says in The Quran (interpretation of meaning), “Men are the caretakers of women, as men have been provisioned by Allah over women and tasked with supporting them financially. And righteous women are devoutly obedient and, when alone, protective of what Allah has entrusted them with” (Quran 4:34). This is just one example of a different role that the man has, where Allah lets us know that it is upon him to take care of, protect, and provide for the women. Amazingly, despite all of these outrageous, ongoing allegations of how Islam treats women, most people who convert to Islam are in fact women!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
