We recite Surah Al Fatihah over 17 times a day, but how often do we stop and ponder over the greatness of this Chapter. <\/span>Here is a short list of seven amazing virtues of this short yet incredibly powerful chapter of Quran.<\/p>\n

  1. It is the greatest chapter in the Quran<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    When the Prophet Muhammad \ufdfa said to a companion that he would teach him the greatest chapter in the Quran, he recited Surah Al Fatihah.<\/p>\n

    Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Mu\u2019alla<\/strong><\/p>\n

    While I was praying, the Prophet called me but I did not respond to his call. Later I said,<\/p>\n

    \u201cOh Allah\u2019s Apostle! I was praying.\u201d He said, \u201cDidn\u2019t Allah say:<\/p>\n

    \u2018O you who believe! Give your response to Allah (by obeying Him) and to His Apostle when he calls you\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

    Quran (8.24)<\/strong><\/p>\n

    He then said,<\/p>\n

    \u201cShall I not teach you the most superior Surah in the Qur\u2019an?\u201d He said, \u2018(It is), \u2018Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. \u2018 (i.e., Surat Al-Fatiha) which consists of seven repeatedly recited Verses and the Magnificent Qur\u2019an which was given to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Sahih Al Bukhari<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

     <\/p>\n

    1. It is a pillar of the prayer<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The Prophet Muhammad \ufdfa said that<\/p>\n

      \u201cWhoever does not recite Surah Al Fatihah in his prayer, his prayer is invalid.\u201d<\/p>\n

      Sahih Al Bukhari<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

       <\/p>\n

        \n
      1. It is the Mother of the Quran<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        The Prophet \ufdfa said that Al Fatihah is<\/p>\n

        \u201cthe Mother of the Quran, the Mother of the Book, the Seven Oft-Repeated Verses and the Great recitation.\u201d<\/p>\n

        Tirmidhi<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

         <\/p>\n

          \n
        1. It is a cure for disease<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          A companion once recited Al-Fatihah over a scorpion bite, to which the Prophet commanded him saying<\/p>\n

          \u201cHow did you know it was a\u00a0Ruqyah\u00a0<\/i>(cure)?\u201d.<\/p>\n

          Sahih Al Bukhari<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

           <\/p>\n

          1. It was sent from Heaven as a light<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            An Angel addressed the Prophet \ufdfa saying,<\/p>\n

            \u201cRejoice in two lights brought to you which have not been brought to any prophet before you, Al-Fatihah and the last verses of Al- Baqarah\u201d.<\/p>\n

            Ibn \u2018Abbas narrated:
            \n\u201cWhile Jibril was with the Messenger of Allah, he heard a noise from above. Jibril lifted his sight to the sky and said: \u201cThis is a door in the Heavens being opened, and it has never been opened before now.\u201d An Angel descended from that door and came to the Prophet and said: \u201cReceive the glad tidings of two lights that you have been given, which no other Prophet before you was given: the Opening of the Book (Al Fatiha), and the last verses of \u2018al-Baqarah.\u2019 You will not read a letter of them except that you will gain its benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n

            Sahih Muslim<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

             <\/p>\n

            1. It is the seven oft-repeated verses<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Surah Al Fatihah is the seven oft-repeated verses as mentioned in Surah Al Hijr, Verse 87. This is because it is repeated in every unit of prayer.<\/p>\n

               <\/p>\n

              1. It is a cure for the heart<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                This Chapter contains a supplication for protection from misguidance and from the anger of Allah. This thus protects the heart from corrupt knowledge and evil intentions.<\/p>\n

                The hidden cure to both these illnesses is also found in the verse<\/p>\n
