Creationism, natural selection, intelligent design, the theory of evolution. Thinking about the creation of the world, the universe, and humanity can be confusing. There are theories, opinions, and beliefs that claim that the creation of the universe was pure coincidence, that humans developed from apes, and that living beings climbed out of the original swamp. In general, science proves that some kind of intelligence planned and made the universe.
Confused? You should be too, but it is not at all. There is also neo-creationism, old-earth creationism (long-term creationism), flood geology, the big bang theory, evolutionary biology, common descent theory and macro evolution. What does all this mean?
For many people, this has to be like some kind of lottery or a theory of the year choice. Each group has evidence, some believe in God, others do not. Some use science to substantiate their views, others refer to the book of Genesis or other myths of creation. The story of creation is clear in Islam. There are no partial theories or strange views that add to the confusion. The creation of the world and everything in it is attributed to God, the Most Merciful, the Most Wise, the Most Forgiver.
„See, your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days.“ (Quran 7:54)
“So He accomplished them as seven heavens in two days, and assigned each heaven its task. And We adorned the lowest heaven with lights (which also serve to protect) That is the creation of the sublime, the omniscient. ” (Quran 41:12)
„And truly, we have created man out of dry, clayey clay, out of black, formed mud.“ (Quran 15:26)
“And then your Lord said to the angels:“ I am about to create man out of dry, clayey clay, out of black, formed mud. „(Quran 15:28)
God created Adam, the father of mankind, from mud (clay, soil, earth or dust mixed with water) and He created his wife Eva from a ribbone. The traditions of the Prophet Muhammad, God’s blessing and peace be upon him, report that God created Eve from his shortest left rib while Adam was sleeping and that she was clothed with flesh after a short time. Then God gave Adam and Eve the ability to reproduce.
“And Allah created every living thing out of water. Among them are some who crawl on their bellies, and among them are some who walk on two legs, and among them are some who move on four. Allah creates what He wants. Surely Allah has power over all things. ” (Quran 24:45)
“And God says: ‚O people, fear your Lord, who created you from a single being and from him He created his wife, and from the two He made many men and women arise. And fear Allah, in whose name you ask one another, and (in the name of your) kinship. Verily, Allah watches over you. ‚”(Quran 4: 1)
“ And verily, We created man from a substance made of clay. Then We put it as a drop of seed in a safe resting place. Then We formed the drop into a clot of blood; then We formed the clot of blood into a clot of meat; then We formed bones from the lump of meat; then We covered the bones with meat; then we developed it into another creation. So unless Allah is praised as the best creator ”(Quran 23: 12-14)
In Islam, unlike other religions, there are no major debates about the separation of science and religion. Islam teaches us that great scientific discoveries and breakthroughs are simple evidence of God’s existence. If scientific theories contradict the Quran and the authentic traditions of the Prophet Muhammad, that God’s blessings and peace are upon him, Muslims simply reject them. However, apart from the assumption in Darwin’s theory of evolution that humans are descended from apes, the Quran and science are in remarkable harmony.
“Verily, the creation of heaven and earth is greater than the creation of man; most people alone don’t know. ” (Quran 40:57)
Over 14 centuries ago, the Quran mentioned scientific facts that have only recently been discovered using modern scientific methods and advanced equipment. The development of scientific disciplines such as cosmology and astrophysics has explained some of the mysteries of God’s creation. Cosmic events that were previously parts of the invisible now make sense according to modern scientific theory.
„Then He turned to the sky, which was still fog, and said to him and to the earth:“ Come both of you, willingly or reluctantly. “ They said: „We willingly come.“ (Quran 41:11)
Modern cosmology shows that at one point in time the entire universe was nothing but a cloud of smoke, an opaque, hot, gaseous composition of high density. It is now possible for scientists to observe how new stars emerge from the remains of this ’smoke‘. Dr. Loretta Dunne of Cardiff University says: “Cosmic dust is made up of tiny particles of solid matter that hover between the stars in space. It is not the same as house dust, but rather resembles the smoke of a cigarette. ” Astronomers have examined the Supernovae SN 2003gd what they used the Sitzer space telescope for, and they found that they had produced huge amounts of dust .
In the creation of mankind we also see that modern scientific evidence seems to be in line with the words of God in the Quran. We also find numerous elements that are present in the earth in the human body. The most important component for rural life is the earth’s surface; this thin layer of dark, organically enriched earth into which the plants stretch their roots. In this thin, living layer of earth, microorganisms convert raw materials and make them accessible to the countless life forms above them.
The Quran instructs Muslims to “think about the creation of heaven and earth” (3: 191). Imagine the precision and timing that allows the world and everything that it contains to function . Complex systems that work exactly. The earth is specially equipped for human life, and life on earth is a delicate balance, from the airy skies to the depths of the oceans.
“The sun and moon orbit according to a set calculation. And the stars and trees fall (before Him) in adoration. And He lifted up the sky. And He made the (correct) weighing necessary so that you don’t get lost in the Libra. So the weight is set fairly and does not cheat when weighing. And He prepared the earth for the creatures ”(Quran 55: 5-10)
God created the universe and He created humanity. Certain parts of all theories and views abundantly agree with the Qur’an’s words and the authentic traditions of Prophet Muhammad that God’s blessings and peace are upon him, but that is not really a concern. Nor is it important if the theories try to disprove God’s existence.
The sun and moon are firmly on their orbitals and life goes on. Muslims know with certainty that the world and everything that exists was created by God. When new discoveries prove it, the believers smile and wait for another miracle with which God reveals himself to them. The complexity of life is almost too easy to understand: God is the creator and sustainer of the universe.
