Sun moves or stationary?

Science confirms the sun is moving not stationary as Quran says

(36:38) And the sun is moving (on its ordained course) towards the goal determined for it. That is the determining of the All-Mighty, the Possessor of perfect knowledge.

Proof. 1

“The Sun – in fact, our whole solar system – orbits around the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. We are moving at an average velocity of 828,000 km/hr. But even at that high rate, it still takes us about 230 million years to make one complete orbit around the Milky Way!

SUN HAS DONE ONLY 18 CIRCLES AROUND THE UNIVERSE

The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy. We believe that it consists of a central bulge, 4 major arms, and several shorter arm segments. The Sun (and, of course, the rest of our solar system) is located near the Orion arm, between two major arms (Perseus and Sagittarius). The diameter of the Milky Way is about 100,000 light-years and the Sun is located about 28,000 light-years from the Galactic Center. You can see a drawing of the Milky Way below which shows what our Galaxy would look like “face-on” and the direction in which it would spin as viewed from that vantage point. Also shown, is the location of the Sun in the big picture view of our Galaxy.

Illustration of what the Milky Way Galaxy would look like face on. Various arms of the galaxy are labeled starting at the top and rotating clockwise: Perseus, Orion, Sun, Cygnus, Centaurus, and Sagittarius.

It is interesting to note that recent observations by astronomers suggest that the Milky Way is in fact a “barred spiral galaxy”, not just a “spiral galaxy”. This means that rather than a simple spherical bulge of gas and stars at its center, it has instead a “bar of stars” crossing the central bulge. It might look something like the image shown below of the barred spiral galaxy known as NGC1073. But we still rotate around the center just the same!

Science today magazine says the sun moves

” The Sun and the entire solar system orbits around the center of the Milky Way galaxy. The average velocity of the solar system is 828,000 km/hr. At that rate it will take about 230 million years to make one complete orbit around the galaxy.

You can check out these amazing books for more information about the Sun.

The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy. It is believed that it consists of a central bulge, 4 major arms, and several shorter arm segments. The Sun and the rest of our solar system is located near the Orion arm, between two major arms, Perseus and Sagittarius. The diameter of the Milky Way is about 100,000 light years and the Sun is located about 28,000 light-years from the Galactic Center. It has been suggested fairly recently that ours is actually a barred spiral galaxy. That means that instead of a bulge of gas and stars at the center, there is probably a bar of stars crossing the central bulge.

Everything in the known universe rotates on an axis and orbits something else in space. The Sun is no exception. Here is the NASA webpage about the sun’s movements through space. Astronomy Cast offers two good episodes: one is about the mysteries of the solar system and the other is about solar system movements”

Therefore

The Sun is revolving round the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way, at almost 220 km/s which means one revolution will take 225 million years. As it revolves, it takes all members of the solar system for the ride with it. Something similar to being in an airplane. The airplane is moving really fast but the passengers inside don’t really feel it.

Apart from this elegant motion in the galaxy, it also oscillates a little with respect to the nearby stars. Interestingly, the Sun is moving 20 km every second towards an imaginary point in the constellation Hercules near the famous star, Vega. That’s right, we are on a trip to Vega! Calculate how much time it would take to reach given that Vega is 27 light years away.

And in fact that is not all. The Milky way is part of what is known as the Local Group of galaxies. All the members are moving relative to each other at 100 km/sec or less due to gravitational interactions. So that’s one more motion of the Sun on a much wider scale!

(21:33) And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating.
